Update

Got my medical bills paid after the insurance company "settled up," with a little bit left over and have pretty much healed up physically. Had another "near miss" when an errant car with an unconscious driver (who had no business behind the wheel of the car to begin with) missed me while I was mowing the yard at my dad's house and everything else in its 400+ yard path until it smashed into the house at 55 mph! Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway), not much up for driving anywhere, but have to and am a nervous wreck till I get back to my house. And for reasons not going to be published here, will be returning to the PNW at the end of August. I'm torn, but know it's where I need to be. I didn't get the student loan repayment, but did get my clinical license. At times when I feel like I've accomplished nothing, I look back and see that I actually have, though the arrival of those victories never feel as great as they should.

Why do matters of the heart and mind seldom meet or agree?

my life as a checklist...

The last of my doctor appointments is complete...with "return to my office if you have any problems" as the final instruction. Fracture is healing, bone and joint are stable. Check. Now I can get this insurance situation resolved...hopefully. I'm also waiting to hear if my student loan repayment will be approved. Till then, I still feel a bit unsettled and not quite sure what I'll be doing exactly in the next few months other than what I'm doing now...waiting...

They can't help that they're helpless...

Men watch helplessly, or perhaps it's nervousness, as their wives check them into doctor appointments, fill out their paperwork, and speak for them in 3rd person as if they are children, or worse - insignificant. The husbands glance over each completed form as their wives hand it to them. Yet they never make a comment and not once do they protest, even when the wives direct them to affix their signatures to whatever she's written! Perhaps it gives them something to do while they wait for their names to be called. What is it about a doctor's office that renders husbands mute and stupefies them into submission?
